Aspen Fall Bar Menus

From happy hour deals and casual bites to cocktails and elevated small plates, Aspen’s bar menus offer some of the best ways to eat and drink around town without committing to a full dinner. Here’s where to pull up a barstool this season

These days, if we choose to eat out in our valley, we choose wisely, and more often than not, we eat in the locally owned restaurants. We know where the big pours are and where an appetizer suffices as a meal, which is what we prefer anyway as by the time entrees come, we’ve usually filled up on Martini’s with stuffed olives. And let's face it: finding a deal in Aspen has become something of a sport.

Since we’re always placing ourselves in the center of the energy, or creating it if it falls flat, we tend to sidle up to the bar to find some local characters, or rambunctious visiting guests looking to meet others.  Dining is more adventurous that way. From $10 margaritas and discounted oysters to burgers and beer, Italian bar menus and early-evening bites, there are still plenty of places in Aspen where you can meet friends for happy hour, and it gets better and more economical in the off-season.

Below we list our round-up of bar menus, please note that although we’ve done our research, hours and specials change seasonally, so always check with the restaurant before heading out.

PARC Aspen

Birthday Dinner at Bosq Aspen

Bosq Aspen

You don’t have to commit to the full tasting-menu experience to get a taste of One MICHELIN Star Bosq Aspen. Chef Barclay Dodge’s newly curated bar menu offers a more casual way to experience his cuisine, with dishes ranging from rabbit cigars ($18), sikil p’ak & mushroom tostada ($15), and fried chicken with hot honey ($28) to grilled New York steak with black chile potatoes and watercress ($32), grilled lobster with summer corn ($65), and an indulgent caviar and heirloom tomato dish with brown butter ($99). Save room for the butterscotch with fresh cream, salted caramel and tonka bean ($18). Available at the bar or in the lounge beginning at 5:30 p.m. nightly except Sundays, the menu is strictly walk-in, first-come, first-served—no reservations or takeout. It’s a great way to drop into one of Aspen’s most acclaimed restaurants for a cocktail and a few beautifully composed plates without making an entire evening of it. Bosq confirms its bar menu is exclusively for in-house dining and walk-ins.

French Alpine Bistro Daily Happy Hour | 3–6 p.m.

Three hours is practically an eternity in Aspen happy-hour terms. French Alpine Bistro is currently offering a dedicated happy-hour menu every day from 3–6 p.m., between lunch and dinner service.

Come for the cozy underground atmosphere, cocktails and an early bite before town gets busy.

Ajax Tavern Happy Hour | 2–5 p.m., Sunday–Thursday

Located at the base of Ajax, we love Ajax Tavern for quintessential people-watching and for dining in the sunshine. The location alone makes this one of Aspen's classic après stops, and their shoestring fries.

Las Montañas Daily | 3–5 p.m. | Bar Only

With memories of Jimmy Yeager's tequila bar, Las Montañas hasn't lost all of it's touch. The fun bar is still there, as are barside tables where you can get delicious tacos, guac and chips, and $10 happy hour margaritas. Sit outside when you can—the upstairs patio overlooking town is part of the fun.

Taco Piña Daily | 3–6 p.m.

Located on Puppy Smith down by Clark's Market and the Aspen Post Office,  I had to re-read this when I saw that Taco Piña offers $5 tacos, $7 seafood tacos, $13 nachos, $10 margaritas, $4 beer, $5 tequila/mezcal shots and $9 glasses of wine.

Interesting tip: P{uppy Smith Street came from a beloved, lifelong city worker named Harold “Puppy” Smith whowas born in Aspen in 1925. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, he returned to Aspen in 1951 and became the sole employee of the city’s Street Department, maintaining Aspen's roads for 37 years operating a heavy-duty road grader from midnight until dawn to clear heavy snow from the streets, often hand-shoveling sidewalks for elderly residents on his route. Aspen eventually named the street after him to honor his decades of dedicated service.

Aspen Brewing Company Daily | 3:30–5:30 p.m.

Current specials include $6 draft beers, $18 pizzas, $5 off menu cocktails and a $10 beer-and-shot combo. (eatAspen)

A relaxed choice when you want beer, pizza and none of the Aspen fuss.

Betula Social Hour | 5:30–7 p.m. daily

Betula's Social Hour runs a little later than most, with discounted signature cocktails and a specially priced bar menu. (eatAspen)

This is a good one for those of us who rarely manage to make a 3 p.m. happy hour.

LoLa 41 Daily | 3–5 p.m. | Bar

Located in the new White Elephant LoLa 41 offers its happy hour at the bar daily from 3–5 p.m.

Think sushi, seafood and cocktails in one of Aspen's livelier bar scenes.

JING Weekdays | 4:30–6 p.m.

JING currently lists weekday happy-hour food and drink specials from 4:30–6 p.m., excluding holidays. (eatAspen)

Wayan Daily Après | 2:30–5:30 p.m.

Wayan Aspen brings Cedric and Ochi Vongerichten’s French-Indonesian cooking to the heart of Aspen, and the bar is an especially good way to experience it without settling in for a full dinner. Signature dishes including the Corn Fritters and Lobster Noodles sit alongside Colorado-inspired dishes such as Lamb Satays and Butterflied Trout with sambal and tomato sauce.

The intimate 68-seat restaurant feels particularly inviting as the temperatures drop, with a crackling wood fire, open kitchen, warm lighting and Indonesian and Balinese artwork creating a cozy hideaway just off the bustle of town.

Stop in for a cocktail and a few dishes at the bar, or stay for dinner. The current cocktail list includes the Pink Beach, with arrack, Campari, pomegranate, pineapple and calamansi, and the Wayan Colada, made with rum, coconut, ginger and lime. Non-drinkers have some interesting options too, including a Passion Fruit Cooler and Turmeric Tonic. Wayan currently lists dinner nightly from 5 p.m. to close.

Meat & Cheese Daily Après | 2:30–5 p.m.

This is less about bargain-basement cocktails and more about that magical period between lunch and dinner when you can grab a board, something to drink and sit on the patio. Their late-afternoon après runs daily from 2:30–5 p.m. (eatAspen)

This is exactly the kind of insider information I want on Aspen Real Life: you can experience a great Aspen restaurant without necessarily signing up for the full fine-dining tab.

J-Bar

Not every great bar needs a happy hour. J-Bar remains one of the places I'd send someone who asks where to experience Aspen Aspen. Go for a burger, a cocktail and the history—and yes, try the famous Aspen Crud at least once.

Testimonials

Aspen Business Connect completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I showed up I felt welcomed into a community of open, curious, and genuinely supportive people. It’s not just networking—it’s real connection. I’ve built friendships, found opportunities, and gained invaluable insight simply by being part of the group. The environment Jillian has created makes it easy to show up, be yourself, and grow both personally and professionally.

I came along and was immediately connected with a lot of entrepreneurs from all backgrounds. A year and a half later I have gained a plethora of connections and advice from people from all walks of the entrepreneurial journey. This valley works by word of mouth. That is the most effective way, and being a part of this has gained me the most high quality clientele that respect what I do, compensate me fairly and I don't have to go through the entire vetting process every time. I learned so much from so many different types of people. It's been invaluable to my growth as an entrepreneur and a small business owner.

I've been blown away by the professional connections that I've been able to make since joining Aspen Business Connect. I've even had the opportunity to make trade relationships... [and] brought multiple artists onto my company's projects that I wouldn't have otherwise found had I not been a member of ABC.

It's unmatched and unrivaled by anything else in the valley and such a special meeting and connecting place for professionals of all different backgrounds. Jillian does an incredible job making her network ours and she's the most well-connected woman in the valley, always bringing in new people from different places who have different experiences and backgrounds to share. Overall it's one of my favorite things to be part of in the valley, from our socializing events and specialized dinners to our more professional focused events , it's given me the opportunity to make great friends in the valley and even professional relationships. All of us are better off for it.

I opened a gallery called Jeremy Joseph Photography, which was a place to display my fine art prints of the Colorado Wilderness and Wildlife. Shortly after opening that space, I started to realize the need for me to be more  integrated into the local community. After a short meeting with Jillian, I realized really quickly how valuable her network could be to get more integrated into the community. The amount of people and relationship building you can do is pretty impressive. Every time that I show up  I always have a bit of a vibrationally tingly inspiration because of everyone's stories and what they're doing. Just a great place to be a part of the community and get inspired for your small business.

What I have enjoyed from Jillian's group, Aspen Business Connect, is I've met lots of different people, different individuals. There's great events. I have probably not only gained clients but I’ve also been able to provide clients to those other folks that I've met. I've also made friends. Several people that I met in the first meeting that I went to, I've played golf with and our families hang out together. I have also had many, many referrals from those people. This group has been fantastic for networking and learning and just meeting lots of great and wonderful, interesting people.

Being a member hasn't just grown my business; it has fundamentally changed my life in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Jillian is a master at the art of connection, and her dedication to this community is nothing short of brilliant. She understands that when you connect local businesses as genuine resources for one another, you aren't just facilitating 'transactions', you are proliferating a culture of friendship, growth, and playful engagement that makes our community thrive... Great organizations only succeed with great leaders, and Jillian’s mission to foster an environment where we all succeed together is incredibly effective.

I am so grateful for Jillian and Aspen Business Connect, for introducing my work to the team at Aspen Strong where we created a successful Food/Mood kids series.  From there, I have been given the opportunity to work with the Aspen Youth Center, Aspen Family Connections and the City of Aspen!”
All of these engagements have helped me expand awareness about the benefits of medical nutrition therapy.  Just one introduction led to many more.  I would highly recommend joining the Aspen Business Connect network!"

Thank you once again! You’ve created something really special and have done an amazing job pulling together the movers and shakers in this Valley. I’ve lived all over the country but have never witnessed a network like the one you’ve built and are continuing to build. You are such an inspiration!

Last week Jerome, Eden, and Brook melted our minds with their wisdom on the state of our food systems, what they're doing about it, and what we can all do to improve the health of ourselves and the Earth. Thanks Aspen Business Connect for organizing this great event!

I just went to Jillian's Aspen Business Connect meeting at Aspen Kitchen with a panel discussing the importance of eating local and nutritious food without pesticides. There was so much positive energy in the room and such an eclectic mix of local business representatives. It was such a perfect way to connect with members of our community. Bravo, Jillian! I can't wait for more!
