We asked our followers to vote on their favorite “Most Engaging Bartender” in Aspen and followed up with an interview and photo session of the winner, Mattias Dylan Horseman, during his summer cocktails mixology session.
A former ball room dancer and Psych major, Mattias is now the lead bartender at Aspen’s Chefs Club by Food & Wine. In our interview he talks about the importance of living a balanced life with an incredible team who are like family to him.
A Photo Session with Mattias by Alex Blanco
The first time I met Mattias was inside the VIP tent at the St. Regis Snow Polo Championship in Aspen where I was broadcasting live on Periscope. When one has an expensive camera in hand it is usually well received by guests, but broadcasting from an iPhone does not always generate the same kind of enthusiasm. Panning through the crowd in search of good content for my audience, I landed upon Mattias in all his glory, entertaining the crowd with an infectious smile and an exuberant energy that seemed to uplift the mood of the entire party.
It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to him through a photography portrayal by the very talented, Alex Blanco.
Excited to document an undercurrent culture of our town, Alex was able to capture Mattias and a member of his bartender team, Patrick Flanigan, as they used their well-seasoned palates and mixology expertise at the Chefs Club to create deliciously complex drinks with playful names like the Latin Half Beat and Namaste (pronounced Nah-I’ma-Stay).
It was an informative adventure being immersed into the intricacies of mixology and we hope that you enjoy Alex’s images and the interview with Aspen’s “Most Engaging Bartender”.
