Aspen Real Life Goes Shopping
Aspen Fashion Week 2012:
During Aspen Fashion Week 2012, I was inspired by a presentation put on by STYLE 2020. The model, STYLE 2020 Operations Manager Michelle Devereux, stood in the front of the room where a stylist from STYLE 2020, Zeena Abidi, spoke of the importance of simplifying by wearing something to work that can easily be transitioned into evening-wear.
Devereux wore a little black dress that had strips of lace on the sides with a nude panel backing, a beige blazer to match and black pumps. To make the transition, off came the blazer and out came a beautiful diamond pendant necklace along with dangling diamond earrings to match from Black Starr & Frost. The pumps were exchanged for a higher heel with a sheen and voila, the transformation was complete.
When the presentation was over I walked out of the room and a light bulb went off over my head. For a while now I have been experiencing fashion envy whenever I go out. My clothes, once colorful and funky, have become too basic and devoid of any flair. I needed to be stylized and I needed it on the double.
I walked back into the room about three or four times before summoning up the courage to approach Kathryn Moore, President and CEO of STYLE 2020, with my idea of going to one of my favorite local boutiques, Pitkin County Dry Goods, and getting their personalized service. Kathryn was all for it and so I met Michelle and Zeena. Could they bust me out of my cocoon and transform me into a beautiful butterfly? Watch the video below and find out.
